How they are used

USDA is the canonical spine: every food starts from it. For a curated set of common ingredients, micronutrient values are enriched from Ciqual where the European figure is preferred, and a few European foods USDA does not carry are added from Ciqual directly. Each value on a food records which source it came from.

Exercise burn is estimated as MET × body weight × duration, using MET values from the Compendium. METs are population averages, so every burn figure in the app is shown as an estimate.
